This marks the end of the first session on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone. At Lunch, East Zone's score read 133/2 with Shikhar Mohan (16*) and Sudip Kumar Gharami (0*) standing unbeaten. In the first session, East Zone lost the wickets of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran for 44 and 72 respectively. Sta tuned with us as we will be right back. 

OUT!!! Oh No!! What just happened here? Looks like East Zone have simply gifted the wicket of Abhimanyu Easwaran to South Zone. Easwaran plays a shot on Tripurana Vijay's delivery and runs for a single. He initially sets off for a run and Shikhar Mohan responds before changing his mind. By then, Easwaran was stranded halfway down the pitch with no chance of making it back. Devdutt Padikkal sprinted across from slip and fired in a throw to the striker's end, where N Jagadeesan completed the run-out. Easwaran departs for 72 and East Zone lose their second wicket.

Seeing his bowlers getting thrashed, Tilak Varma quickly changes the strategy and hands over the ball to Mohammed Siraj again. Though Siraj also conceded runs in the earlier overs, he is still the most trusted bowler for South Zone. In his previous over, he leaked seven runs, including a boundary from Shikhar Mohan.

After 20 overs, finally the first maiden over of the day has been delivered and it has been bowled by Tripurana Vijay. Abhimanyu Easwaran is still standing strong and regularly getting boundaries from South Zone bowlers. Both Easwaran and Shikhar Mohan are forming a good partnership.

FOUR!!! Abhimanyu Easwaran hits a boundary on MD Nidheesh's delivery. A superbly timed shot from Easwaran. It was a full delivery outside off, and he used his wrists beautifully to flick it past mid-on for a boundary.

After the dismissal of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, East Zone are showing a cautious approach. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been joined by Shikhar Mohan and the duo is slowly forming another strong partnership. However, the wicket of Sooryavanshi has surely boosted South Zone's confidence and they are searching for more wickets now.

OUT!!!! Chama V Milind has given South Zone their first and the most important breakthrough of the day as he dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 44. A short-of-length delivery, and he goes after it, but the extra bounce catches him out. The ball hits the edge and loops towards mid-wicket, where Tanay Thyagarajan moves swiftly to his right from deep square leg and completes a fine catch. First wicket finally gone for East Zone as the strong partnership is finally broken.

FIFTY!!! Abhimanyu Easwaran takes a double on Shreyas Gopal's delivery and completes his half-century in style. He takes 46 deliveries to bring up his fifty as East Zone are brilliantly dominating the innings against South Zone.

FOUR!!! Abhimanyu Easwaran hits a brilliant boundary on Chama V Milind's delivery. On a good length, he leans into the shot, meets the ball on the up and times a beautiful punch through the cover region.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran are forming a terrific partnership and taking every bowler to the cleaners. In the previous over of Tripurana Vijay, the duo scored 12 runs, which included two boundaries from Easwaran. With this, both the batters have now breached the 40-run mark and inching towards their respective half-centuries.

SIX!!! Abhimanyu Easwaran hits a massive six on Tripurana Vijay'ss delivery. Tossed up from over the wicket, Easwaran charges down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and goes through with the shot, sending it soaring for a six.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has surely casted some magic on Abhimanyu Easwaran as the co-opener has also changed gears. In the previous over of Mohammed Siraj, Easwaran hit two boundaries as the pacer conceded 10 runs.

Both Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran have completed their fifty-run opening partnership against South Zone. In the previous over of Tripurana Vijay, the duo scored six runs, which included a boundary from Easwaran.

WOAH!!! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unleashes his fury on Mohammed Siraj and gets 14 runs from his previous over. First, he hits a terrific boundary, followed by a huge maximum towards the long-off. On the last delivery of the over, Sooryavanshi hits a lofted shot over the mid-off and gets a boundary. Brilliant batting East Zone.

East Zone are enjoying a blistering start to the match as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is dealing in boundaries. In the previous over of MD Nidheesh, Sooryavanshi hit two boundaries as the pacer conceded nine runs in the over. Both Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easawaran's partnership is giving tough time to South Zone bowlers.

After Mohammed Siraj leaked nine runs in his previous over, South Africa took a sigh of relief as MD Nidheesh controlled the flow of runs. In his over, Nidheesh conceded just two runs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran are looking in good touch and looking to get some boundaries in the upcoming overs.

After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhimanyu Easwaran also takes on Mohammed Siraj and gets a boundary in his previous over.  Drifting down the leg side, Easwaran neatly clips it fine and beats the fielder in the deep with ease for a boundary. In total, Siraj conceded nine runs in the over.

FOUR!!! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shift gears and gets a terrific boundary from Mohammed Siraj.  A near-yorker outside off, almost in the blockhole, and Sooryavanshi does well to open the bat face late, guiding it through backward point for a boundary.

East Zone are off to a steady start as the duo of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran scored four runs in the first over of Mohammed Siraj. In the over of the star pacer, both the batters rotated the strike and gave a decent start to East Zone. The highly anticipated battle between Siraj and Sooryavanshi is the main highlight of the innings.

The highly anticipated Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone finally begins. For East Zone, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran will be opening the proceedings. All eyes are on the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi, who will be eager the set the stage on fire again. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj will be bowling the first over for South Zone. Let's play! 

"Just before the toss I was talking with Ishan that we're looking to bowl. Feel there is moisture in the wicket. With our fast bowling attack, Siraj coming into the side, we want to take early wickets. Four changes for us. Siraj, Padikkal, Vijay and CV Milind come in," said South Zone captain Tilak Varma.

"We're going to bat first. Looks a decent wicket. There is a bit of moisture but it will be there on any ground. It's important to forget about the last game. They've been giving their all. Very important for senior players to turn up. Just looking to be humble and be disciplined," said East Zone captain Ishan Kishan.

"Wicket number 4. Red soil wicket. It's very hot. Can see slight grass which is there to hold the wicket. There is some moisture but there is nothing to worry about. There will be some help upfront for the quicks. It'll be great to bat on otherwise," reckon Vijay Dahiya and Chetan Sharma.
