OUT!!! Shreyas Gopal cleans up Mohammed Shami for 28. Seventh wicket gone for East Zone but here comes the good news that Ishan Kishan is fit to bat again. He got retired hurt after he completed his 250 runs. He will now join Md Kounain Quraishi at the crease.

This marks the end of the second session on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone. At tea, East Zone's score read 626/6 with Md Kounain Quraishi standing unbeaten. In the second session, East Zone crossed the 600-run mark but Ishan Kishan was retired hurt after completing his 250. Anukul Roy also departed after scoring 45. 

OUT!!! Shaik Rasheed has given a big breakthrough to South Zone as he dismissed Anukul Roy for 45. Rasheed strikes directly onto the pads of Roy as the umpire signals not out. However, South Zone decide to opt for DRS review which then results in the favour of them and Roy departs. Sixth wicket gone for East Zone.

This marks the end of the first session on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone. At Lunch, East Zone's score read 491/5 with Ishan Kishan (171*) and Anukul Roy (5*) standing unbeaten at the crease. In the first session, East Zone lost the wicket of Kumar Kushagra for 101, who was dismissed by Tripurana Vijay. 

Oh No!!! Anukul Roy has been hit on his finger on Mohammed Siraj's delivery. A short delivery, Anukul takes his eyes off the ball and gets hit. He is screaming in pain and the team physio rushes out to check on him. After a brief delay, he is declared fit to continue.

However, he picks out Chama Milind at fine leg, who barely has to move as he completes a simple catch. Fifth wicket gone for East Zone and a strong partnership has been broken.

150!!!! Ishan Kishan takes a single on Tripurana Vijay's delivery and completes his 150 runs in style,. He takes 204 deliveries to reach the milestone. Ishan is in a terrific form and troubling South Zone bowlers.

Kumar Kushagra has completely shifted his gears now. He is now fearlessly dealing in boundaries and confidently moving towards his century. In the previous over of Shreyas Gopal, he gets two boundaries and steals a total of eight runs. The first boundary comes after he finds the gap between short cover and mid-off and hits towards the deep extra cover. Two balls later, he hits it hard towards the deep mid-wicket and gets another boundary.

Kumar Kushagra is also standing solid with Ishan Kishan and forming a great partnership. He has now breached the 85-run mark and inching towards hi century. This partnership between Ishan and Kushagra has surely given nightmares to South Zone bowlers. They need to think something out of the box now.

FOUR!!! Kumar Kushagra also gets a boundary on MD Nidheesh's delivery. A half-volley outside off, Kushagra leans into the delivery and drives it sweetly on the rise. He completes a full follow-through as the ball speeds past the bowler. In total, Nidheesh concedes five runs in the over.

BOOM! Just after facing a painful delivery, Ishan Kishan bounces back in style and takes MD Nidheesh to cleaners. In the same over, he hits two back-to-back boundaries and steals eight runs from the pacer. Terrific aura from the East Zone captain as his side move ahead strongly.

Oh No!! What just happened here? Ishan Kishan has been hit on MD Nidheesh's delivery. A skiddy back-of-a-length delivery angles into middle and off. Kishan looks to pull, but the ball appears to stay a touch low and strikes him flush in the box region. The team physio is out on the field and checks on Ishan. He is then declared fit to continue.

With no breakthrough so far, South Zone captain Tilak Varma decides to change the strategy and hands over the ball to Chama V Milind. Notably, Milind took two wickets on Day 1 and was very economical too. In his first over on Day 2, Milind concedes five runs as South Zone continue to hunt for wickets.

WOAH!!! As we were talking about the cautious approach, Ishan Kishan decides to shift gears and takes on Mohammed Siraj. In the previous over the pacer, Ishan unleashes his fury and hits two back-to-back boundaries. With this, East Zone also breach the 400-run mark and confidently move ahead towards 500. Terrific batting from East Zone.

East Zone batters Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra are steadily moving ahead without taking any risks. So far, both the batters haven't hit any boundary and are just rotating the strike with singles. In the previous over of Mohammed Siraj, the duo scored one run and completed its 150-run partnership.

With a single on the fifth delivery of the over, Ishan Kishan completes his 112 runs, which has now become his highest ever score in Duleep Trophy. Ishan is truly playing a captain's knock for East Zone over here.

The Day 2 of Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone finally begins. For East Zone, Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra will resume the proceedings from 385/4. On the other hand, Shreyas Gopal will be bowling the first over for South Zone. Let's play!! 

"385 for 4, and you look at the surface. It's a mismatch or a match, or what is it? Look, as far as the pitch is concerned, it's a pitch like a road. Like a cemented pitch. Because if you look here, there are no marks of spikes yet, there is no rough created. You cannot say that you can bowl in the rough here and the bowlers will get some help, or bowl further up and the ball will swing. There is nothing like that. The wicket is like a road."

"I think my intent was very positive, and I had thought that I would play with positive intent because that is my game. I think I had a positive mindset. There was no such pressure because I have come here after playing a Ranji match, so my mindset was just that the way I was playing in the Ranji match, I should have the same intent here. (On Easwarn's run-out) I think it was there for two or four overs, like he was the set batter, he was batting on 81, so there was a little bit of a thought that it would be a loss for our team, but I thought that then I would also score his runs," said East Zone batter Shikhar Mohan. 

Star India pacer Mohammed Siraj had a lukewarm outing on Day 1 for the South Zone. In 14 overs, Siraj conceded a total of 96 runs and remained wicketless. He will now be hoping for a better performance on Day 2 as South Zone are eager for Ishan Kishan's wicket. 

Ishan Kishan led from the front with an unbeaten century as East Zone dominated South Zone on the opening day of the Duleep Trophy 2026-27 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. East Zone reached 385/4 at stumps, with Kishan unbeaten on 111 and Kumar Kushagra on 63 not out. The pair added an unbroken 144-run partnership in just 26.4 overs to put East firmly in control after South had managed to make early inroads

With the East Zone cruising towards a 500 total in the first innings, South Zone skipper Tilak Varma's captaincy is under the spotlight. Tilak has looked clueless at times and also engaged in a verbal duel with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on Day 1. He needs to step up and try a few tactical changes if South Zone are to make a comeback in the final.

With his hundred in the final, East Zone skipper Ishan Kishan has proven that he is a man of all formats. Ishan is already an important player for India in white-ball formats and is making a strong case for himself for red-ball selection too.
